Kira Skov at Rungstedlund

Kira Skov at Rungstedlund

In a unique historic setting in Karen Blixen’s garden, Kira Skov will perform an intimate concert this summer about the marks we leave on one another across generations.

Kira Skov traces a path through her own history, from songs written when she was very young to the present day, with a few cover versions that have shaped her as a songwriter. It will be an intimate concert, specially created for this one-off performance, in which Kira invites audiences closer and shares the stories behind the songs and how they came to be.

Kira says:

“I have visited Rungstedlund many times, and I have long dreamed of playing a concert in Karen Blixen’s magical garden. It is always inspiring to visit the beautiful museum, where I can vividly picture Karen Blixen bent over her desk, surrounded by her heavenly bouquets. I will be thinking of her as I choose the songs we will play in the garden in September. I am very much looking forward to it.”

On Kira’s latest acclaimed album, What Ties Us Together Will Keep Us Apart, she explored precisely the impressions we leave on one another across generations. These songs also featured in DR’s drama series Generationer. She previously wrote The Echo of You for her late husband, Nicolai Munch Hansen, as well as the albums In the Beginning and I Nat Bliver Vi Gamle, which likewise explore life’s cycles.

In the spring, Kira toured churches across Denmark, finishing with two sold-out concerts in the distinctive surroundings of Glyptoteket, which, like Rungstedlund, invite reflection and immersion.
