Alberte Winding brings her songs to life in a symphonic setting on a new tour with the Danish Chamber Orchestra

In spring 2027, audiences can experience Alberte Winding in a new concert format when she tours with the Danish Chamber Orchestra. Her songs will unfold in a symphonic setting, giving new life to both familiar classics and more recent work.

For Alberte Winding, the idea of working with a large orchestra has been quietly taking shape for a long time.

“For many years, I have thought how wonderful it could be to hear my songs with strings and brass. So it feels a little as though something I have dreamed of for a long time is finally happening. The old songs gain a new depth, and in a way the new ones have been conceived with that direction in mind all along,” she explains.

For more than four decades, Alberte Winding has been a constant presence in Danish people’s lives, from her early years in children’s television to an extensive career as a songwriter and musician. Her songs move effortlessly between simplicity and reflection, often exploring relationships, everyday life and the powerful emotions just beneath the surface.

The Danish Chamber Orchestra’s enthusiasm for the collaboration is clear:

“Alberte Winding is one of those artists whose songs already contain a particular poetry and intimacy with which many Danes have a personal connection. She has an ability to write her way into our lives across generations, and that is precisely the space we look forward to entering together with her and the audience,” says John Frandsen, director of the Danish Chamber Orchestra.

From children’s songs to pop classics

The concerts will take audiences through her entire catalogue: from children’s songs to pop classics and more recent collaborations. It is a repertoire reflecting a life lived in music, reaching several generations at once.

Songs such as Lyse nætter will naturally find their way into the concert. It is also one of the songs Alberte is most excited to explore with the orchestra: “That song has come to mean something to so many people. I am looking forward to opening it up even further with the orchestra. It feels as though it deserves it,” says Alberte Winding. For her, the concerts ultimately revolve around meeting the audience: the moment when the songs find their place. “There is no magic until it meets its audience,” she says.

And it is in the concert hall that what she seeks in music emerges: a shared space where memories and new experiences can exist side by side. “I hope the audience leave the hall with a feeling of light and warmth. That the music gets to do a little more talking than I do,” says Alberte Winding.
