After three tours and more than 35,000 tickets: Burhan G and the Danish Chamber Orchestra announce Juleshowet 2024

With several sold-out concerts on this year’s programme, Burhan G and the Danish Chamber Orchestra announce a new nationwide Christmas tour in 2024.

Christmas is approaching, and fans of Burhan G and the Danish Chamber Orchestra are flocking to the concerts making up this year’s major Christmas tour. It began on 30 November in Aabenraa and ends on 17 December in Aalborg.

Demand is high for the joint tour, which they first undertook in 2019. Together, Burhan G and the Danish Chamber Orchestra have sold more than 35,000 tickets.

Now it can be revealed that the show will return in 2024 with another Danish tour, and Burhan G is delighted:

“In 2019, I got to fulfil a huge childhood dream when the Danish Chamber Orchestra invited me to be the soloist in Juleshowet. But I would never have dared to dream that it would become so big that we could now announce a fourth nationwide tour!”

The magical melancholy of Tinka and Nissebanden

The 2017 Christmas television song Tinka, Burhan’s own modern classic, is naturally on the setlist. So are several songs from his platinum-selling Christmas album Et Barn Af Jul, which is synonymous with the sound of Christmas in many Danish homes.

Alongside Burhan’s own Christmas songs, audiences can look forward to distinctive interpretations of classic Christmas songs such as Glade Jul, Der Er Noget i Luften and Nu Er Det Jul, the now more than 30-year-old theme from Nissebanden i Grønland, to which Burhan has a particularly close connection.

“When I was a boy, I sat glued to the screen night after night, hoping Nissebanden would make it. Now, as an adult, I understand how the music and the special Christmas atmosphere affected me then. Nu Er Det Jul is one of many melodies I have never been able to let go of. It moves from happiness and innocence into a magical melancholy. We recreate that atmosphere in Juleshowet with the Danish Chamber Orchestra!”

The orchestra’s director, Andreas Vetö, also looks forward to next year’s Christmas tour:

“Burhan G is a fantastic singer and musical communicator, and you can feel how much Christmas means to him. That makes sharing a stage with him a great pleasure. From the very first line, his voice and extraordinary commitment capture the audience. We are both proud and delighted that we can already announce next year’s tour together.”

Outside classical music’s comfort zone

Although the Danish Chamber Orchestra is internationally recognised in classical music, its desire to move far beyond classical music’s comfort zone is an integral part of its DNA.

The orchestra therefore collaborates with a wide range of artists, bands and others from popular music. These collaborations result in ambitious signature tours with some of the biggest names in that world, including, alongside the Burhan G tours, a Northern European tour with Mew in the spring.

“We love bringing symphonic music to people at eye level, because it allows us to awaken musical enthusiasm in a much wider audience than we otherwise could as a classical orchestra,” explains Andreas Vetö.
