After a long break: Folkeklubben return for a symphonic meeting with the Danish Chamber Orchestra
They have taken a long break from the live stage, from releasing music and from one another. But in autumn 2026, Folkeklubben will finally tour Denmark again, letting their lyrical rock world collide in a unique collaboration with the accomplished classical musicians of one of the country’s most acclaimed orchestras.

Over the past ten years, the Danish Chamber Orchestra has travelled from DR’s classical concert halls to Denmark’s biggest venues and stages, in inspiring, versatile and much-loved collaborations with some of the country’s best-known pop and rock artists.
The Danish Chamber Orchestra embraces a particularly broad musical repertoire. In autumn 2026, its attention turns to Folkeklubben’s songs as the full orchestra heads out across the country with the hugely successful rock trio. John Frandsen, director of the orchestra, explains:
“When we embark on new collaborations at the Danish Chamber Orchestra, it is essential that the artists have something to say that can inspire us and that we can explore in a symphonic format. We have absolutely no doubt that this is the case with Folkeklubben. Their songs combine intellectual sharpness with broad popular appeal. They speak to the Danish folk high school songbook and to P3 radio at the same time. That is a rare combination, and perhaps precisely why their music has such a strong place in our collective consciousness.
Folkeklubben create music with powerful storytelling, and their songs have an inherent grandeur that almost demands strings, brass and the full palette of a symphonic orchestra. We are very much looking forward to it.”
The orchestra will be led by conductor David Riddell, long-standing artistic director of Randers Chamber Orchestra and Aarhus Summer Opera. He has also previously conducted Folkeklubben in a symphonic setting with the Odense Symphony Orchestra.
Something is at stake. And the three members of Folkeklubben - Kjartan Arngrim, Rasmus Jusjong and Rasmus Dall - know it as they return to the stage after several years away.
“We have been away for a while, from one another and from the music, to make room for reflection and calm. Coming back with the Danish Chamber Orchestra feels like exactly the right way to open the club again,” says lead singer Kjartan Arngrim, continuing:
“Playing with a symphonic orchestra will be anything but a leisurely Sunday outing. We have to set our songs loose in an awe-inspiring space that represents dedication and immersion like few others. It will certainly be incredibly nerve-racking, but hopefully wonderful too.”
Folkeklubben made their debut 15 years ago. Their organic, folk-rock pop anthems contain the contrasts within us all and a sense of shared popular culture. The band are anything but a closed club, embracing the whole spectrum: from ‘Danmark’ with Suspekt to ‘Danmarksfilm’ in Højskolesangbogen. They have enjoyed success on P3 and Dansktoppen radio, met audiences on prime-time X Factor and under open skies with hits such as ‘Fedterøv’ and ‘Sort Tulipan’. They have released six albums, most recently the highly acclaimed ‘Mere end en klub’ in 2023.
When Folkeklubben and the Danish Chamber Orchestra tour together in autumn 2026, it will be a musical meeting of force and resonance. Audiences can look forward to a special concert format in which interpretations of the band’s songs gain new dimensions through the interplay of strings, brass and electric guitars.
